Samastipur ! Pusa, July 10, 2024: Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) today inaugurated its 17th Research Council meeting, a three-day event that will review over 200 research projects undertaken by the university. Vice-Chancellor Dr. P.S. Pandey emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research, focusing on climate-resilient crop production and technologies that benefit small and marginal farmers.
Dr. Pandey highlighted the university's achievements, including the development of 11 crop varieties and 22 technologies in the past 18 months. He stressed the need for scientists to develop innovative solutions, keeping in mind the challenges posed by climate change.
The university is working towards developing model villages, with Kothiya village being developed as a solar village.Eminent experts, including Dr. A.K. Pathak, former Vice-Chancellor of Navsari Agricultural University, and Dr. M.B. Chetti, former Vice-Chancellor of Dharwad Agricultural University,
appreciated the university's progress in research and innovation. They emphasized the importance of data integrity and the need for scientists to work with farmers to develop practical solutions.The meeting will review research projects, identify areas for improvement, and set directions for future research.
The university has made significant contributions to Indian agriculture, and its research has global recognition. The event aims to promote collaboration among scientists, farmers, and policymakers to drive agricultural growth and development. The Vice-Chancellor also emphasized the importance of digital agriculture and the need for scientists to think innovatively to achieve Nobel Prize-like work.
He also highlighted the university's contribution to seed production, with 80% of Bihar's seed requirement being met by the university.
The three-day event will also witness the release of three books published by the university. Eminent scientists and teachers from various universities are participating in the event.
