Samastipur ! The second day of the two-day workshop on Natural Farming and its Scope under Changing Climatic Scenarios concluded today with a call for increased research and development in this critical area ! The workshop, held at Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University brought together leading agricultural scientists for a series of technical sessions and a panel discussion.
Dr. C.K. Timadia,Vice-Chancellor of the Agricultural University Anand, Gujarat, and Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Bihar Animal Science University, were among the esteemed participants who engaged in a thought-provoking discussion ! In the valedictory session, Dr. Punyavrat Suvimalendu Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, emphasized the importance of natural farming as a sustainable agricultural practice.
He highlighted its resilience in extreme weather conditions and its efficient water usage. Dr. Pandey also acknowledged the limited scientific data available on natural farming and urged scientists to conduct further research to understand its impact on various aspects, including socio-economic factors! Dr. C.K. Timadia commended Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University for its leadership in promoting natural farming. He expressed his hope that other agricultural universities would follow suit and called for the development of a comprehensive package of practices for farmers. Dr. Timadia also expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended by the host university ! The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mayank Rai, Dean of the Post Graduate College of Agriculture (PGCA) and Chairman of the workshop. Dr. Rai expressed his confidence that the deliberations from the two-day event would provide valuable insights for policymakers as they work towards implementing natural farming practices.
In the workshop more then two hundred senior agricultural scientists from various universities of the country participated in the workshop !
